A1:

I. Regulations applicable to the 114 Academic Year

  1. The Foreign Language Education Center offers leveled Chinese language courses in the 114 academic year. These courses are categorized as foreign language elective courses, with the primary purpose of enhancing international students’ Chinese proficiency. They cannot be used as a substitute for general education courses.
The Foreign Language Education Center may approve up to 2 credits as foreign language course credits. If a single Chinese language course carries more than 2 credits, once 2 credits have been approved to fulfill the foreign language graduation requirement for undergraduate students, the remaining credits will not be counted.
  2. If a student takes multiple Chinese language courses or intends to have Chinese language courses counted as free electives or other types of credits, credit recognition and related regulations shall be determined by the student’s home department, which will handle the graduation credit recognition process.

II. Regulations applicable from the 115 Academic Year onward

  1. The Foreign Language Education Center will continue to offer leveled Chinese language courses. Credit recognition will be handled in accordance with the Ministry of Education’s regulations on international students’ learning rights for the 115 academic year, as well as the university’s internal credit recognition policies.
The proficiency level of the Chinese language course taken must exceed the student’s Chinese language admission requirement, and after completing the course, the student must obtain a TOCFL certificate at the same level in order for the credits to be recognized.
  2. Students who meet the above requirements may have up to 8 credits from Chinese language courses counted toward graduation credits. The principles are as follows:
    1. The Foreign Language Education Center may approve up to 2 credits as foreign language course credits. If a single Chinese language course carries more than 2 credits, once 2 credits are approved to meet the undergraduate foreign language graduation requirement, the remaining credits will not be counted.
    2. If a student takes multiple Chinese language courses or intends to have Chinese language courses counted as free electives or other types of credits, credit recognition and related regulations shall be determined by the student’s home department, which will handle the graduation credit recognition process.
